Cougar Pride
Cougar Pride (previously Wolverine Pride) is a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) utilized at Winchester Elementary! Cougar Pride will model, teach, reinforce and reteach the expectations at WGS.
We are committed to empowering all students to meet high expectations by creating a respectful and positive learning environment. Through our Tier I Universal Level, students who demonstrate appropriate behaviors will be recognized with positive consequences on both an immediate and long-term basis. The program will include expectations of:
- Prepared
- Respectful
- Involved
- Dedicated
- Empowered
Each setting will contain expectations the students will follow. Students have been taught the expectations through modeling and instruction. Acknowledgement of the expectations are given daily through our PBIS rewards program
PBIS rewards program is computer based and provides the opportunity for school staff members to acknowledge good behavior by awarding PBIS points. The program makes it easy for staff members to reward students from anywhere on campus. Students can then use their reward points to purchase fun and exciting items from the Cougar Pride Store. There are various tangible and intangible rewards for students to choose from. The Cougar Pride Store is located in the main hallway outside of the office so students can view what prizes they want to work for.
While Cougar Pride is not brand new to WGS, the PBIS rewards and Cougar Store are brand new. Winchester Elementary applied for and was awarded a grant through the Tracy Family Foundation. Their gracious generosity has helped revamp our Positive Behavioral Intervention Program and provide an efficient way to reward those students that exhibit good behavior expectations while at school and hopefully carry over to their time outside of school hours.
